Pat Beilein leading Le Moyne men's basketball into new season with loads of momentum

Le Moyne men's basketball head coach Pat Beilein looks on during practice this week.

The Le Moyne men's basketball program has seen an uptick under head coach Pat Beilein.

The Dolphins were a No. 1 seed in their region last year, albeit losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

However, this year, Le Moyne has begun the year with a bang, knocking off Division-I Siena College during exhibition play in November.

"It was a tough fought win," Le Moyne senior forward Daniel Kaigler said during practice on Friday. "I think we played really well at times, but I think there's a lot we can build off of, though. I think we didn't play our best basketball. We took that into practice this week and we're going to take that into the games this weekend, that we're building on what we did last weekend."

"Yeah, we addressed it," Beilein reiterated after the Siena win. "We talked about it openly. We told them if you look at our schedule, it still says 0-0. That Siena game was great, but moving forward, we don't want to be remembered as the team that just beat Siena and had an okay year. We want to have a great year with that Siena win [added] to it."

The Dolphins defeated Molloy College in their season opener on Saturday, 70-51.

Le Moyne will be back in action Sunday, taking part in a tournament in Albany.
