It was a tough night for C.J. Fair, who was in attendance at the NBA Draft but was not selected.
Perhaps though, it was a blessing in disguise.
Several media outlets are now saying that Fair has signed with the Dallas Mavericks, including Mark Followill who does play by play broadcasting for the team.
Fair told many reporters that he expected Dallas to draft him all along.
The problem there was, that Dallas traded away its only draft picks to the New York Knicks earlier this week.
So, essentially, it's like Dallas drafted Fair a day later, signing him to a deal that will place him on the team's Summer League squad.
Fair led Syracuse in scoring in 2013-2014 averaging 16.5 points per game.
This deal, does not guarantee Fair a spot on Dallas' roster, but given that the team didn't have any previous draft picks his chances are high if he performs to the level we saw in his days at Syracuse University.
