The # 2 SU Basketball team is getting their last big breather before tournament time, playing just one game over a 10 day span. That single game will be a tough test though, hosting the Louisville Cardinals this Saturday on Senior Day. The Orange squeaked by Louisville 52-51 a couple weeks ago, the first time seniors Scoop Jardine and Kris Joseph had beaten the Cardinals in their careers. The entire team will now be looking for the Louisville sweep this weekend, their seniors last game in the Carrier Dome.
" I t'll be emotional ," says sophomore guard Dion Waiters, "but at the end of the day we've got to go out there and be ready for Louisville. We know they're gonna be looking for revenge, but we just gotta be ready for them."
" I t's something we owe to our seniors", says sophomore forward C.J. Fair, "bragging rights as they carry on after their career here, we just want to end the year off strong heading to the post season."
Jardine and Joseph only combined for 7 points in that win over Louisville earlier this month, one of their least productive games of the season. And while they'll be looking for better performances on Senior Day heading towards a promising postseason, coach Boeheim says they've already earned their spots among the most successful ever to play at Syracuse.
"Scoop and Kris are going to be among the winningest players who have ever played here," said head coach Jim Boeheim, " I ' m sure they're the first group (of seniors) who've won two undisputed league championships. So they've just had tremendous careers, have been great players and great leaders through this year."
" T hey mean everything," added Waiters, "they're are leaders, and they're also out vocal leaders, so we just have to listen to them and have they're back."
