Stingy defense gives SU women's hoops win on Senior Day over Pittsburgh

The SU women's basketball team (19-8, 8-6 ACC) beat Pittsburgh (11-16, 3-10 ACC) on Senior Day in the Carrier Dome 67-36. SU clinched a first-round bye in the ACC tournament with the win.

Seniors Phylesha Bullard, Rachel Coffey, Shakeya Leary and La'Shay Taft were honored before the game for their time with the Orange.

As for the game itself, SU held Pittsburgh without a field goal until the 1:22 mark in the first half, going into the locker room with a 26-11 lead. Pitt actually started the second half with a quick three pointer, but Brianna Butler's shooting came in handy, answering with a three of her own, helping the Orange coast to the 67-36 victory.

Butler led the way with 16 points, while Briana Day chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds as well.

The Orange plays their regular season finale at Wake Forest on Sunday, March 2nd at 2 p.m.
