SUNY Cortland had made it to the Division III Final Four in seven out of the last eight seasons.
Now, that mark is seven out of the last nine.
The Red Dragons were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament by Tufts 15-5 on Wednesday. It's also the 4th time in the last five years Cortland and Tufts met in the playoffs.
The game started out promising for SUNY Cortland, as they raced to a 3-1 lead and ended the first quarter in front by a score of 4-3.
Then Tufts ran away with it.
Ending the game on a 12-1 run, the Jumbos stampeded past Cortland en route to the Final Four.
That leaves the Cortland Women and the Syracuse University Women as the only two local lacrosse squads left.
As far as a local rooting interest is concerned, SUNY Albany features the Thompsons from the Onondaga Nation.
