SUNY Cortland women's lacrosse, baseball teams fall just short of National Titles

The SUNY Cortland women's lacrosse team fell in the Final Four on Saturday, while the Red Dragons baseball was eliminated by Emory in the Division III World Series on Sunday.

Going into their game, the Cortland women's lacrosse team was ranked number one in the nation, sporting a 22-0 record going into their matchup with third ranked Trinity. The Red Dragons held a 5-4 lead at the half, but the Bantams scored the first four goals of the second half en route to an 8-7 victory. West Genesee grad and Cortland sophomore Erica Geremia had one goal and three assists in the losing effort. The Red Dragons finish the season 22-1.

The Cortland baseball team held a 4-3 lead over Emory in the second inning, but the Eagles used two three-run innings en route to a 9-7 win, eliminating Cortland from the World Series. The Red Dragons opened the tournament with a 4-3 win over Salisbury, but lost to Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday night to bring them to the elimination game. Cortland finishes the season with a record of 36-10.
