The Syracuse Chiefs stayed focused and continued their winning ways with a 8-5 win over the Charlotte Knights.
The scoring started early when the Knights drove in two runs in the first inning, battering Chiefs' starter Ryan Tatusko with a barrage of hits. However, the Chiefs would answer in the bottom half of the inning when Danny Espinosa smashed a double that would score Eury Perez and Jeff Kobernis. Corey Brown would then drive Espoinosa in when he reached on a Knights' fielding error to give the Chiefs a 3-2 lead.
That lead would disappear quick as the Knights would score in the next inning and in the fourth to gain a 4-3 advantage. The trend of this game though would be constant lead changes, especially in the fifth when Corey Brown crushed a solo homer to right to even the game at four.
The Chiefs would take the lead in the seventh when Kris Watts would reach on a fielding error to load the bases and drive in Corey Brown to give the Chiefs a 5-4 lead. Then, the speedy Eury Perez put the Knights in a giant hole they would not overcome as he tripled, driving in three runs and giving the Chiefs an 8-4 lead.
The Chiefsâ?? relievers would hold strong despite a late Knights run in the ninth and hold on for a 8-5 victory. for the Chiefs.
Tyler Robertson would get his forth win for the Chiefs as Daniel Webb took the loss for the Knights.
The Chiefs are now on a four game winning streak going into the weekend.
