Syracuse Chiefs home opener rained out- Triche will toss opening pitch Saturday

Rainy and cold conditions forced Syracuse Chiefs officials to postpone Friday's home opener against Lehigh Valley.

The game, technically speaking, will be made up as part of a doubleheader in July.

For fan purposes, what you need to know is that Saturday at 2 p.m. will now be the Chiefs' home opener. Syracuse Basketball star Brandon Triche will still throw the ceremonial first pitch on Saturday at NBT Bank Stadium.

The Chiefs and Ironpigs round out the series with a doubleheader on Sunday. Originally the four game set was supposed to span Thursday to Sunday however the Thursday game was moved to Sunday as a doubleheader so that the home opener could be on Friday.

Obviously, mother nature did not cooperate with those plans.
