Syracuse Chiefs unveil new scoreboard tonight

The brand-new, state of the art scoreboard at Alliance Bank Stadium was supposed to debut on Monday night, but the Chiefs' game with Durham was rained out. So now, as part of a double-header starting at 5 p.m., the scoreboard will "officially" be unveiled tonight.

It's certainly a sight to see, as one of the 5 largest scoreboards in all of Minor League Baseball, it's over 30 feet tall and over 55 feet wide. It's a full high definition picture and is sure to engage fans not just with player profile and stats, but entertaining videos during games.

Chiefs General Manager John Simone tells me that Onondaga County paid about 20% of the costs for the new scoreboard, the Chiefs covered the rest.

This wasn't the only bit of good news for Chiefs fans, we learned on Monday that former New York Yankee Chien-Ming Wang will start in Syracuse on Wednesday night.
