The Syracuse Crunch got off to another hot start in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, defeating Springfield for the second straight day 5-3. The win gives the Crunch a 2-0 series lead, with a home game in the War Memorial scheduled for Wednesday.
Richard Panik and Mike Angelidis gave the Crunch an early 2-0 lead, with two goals less than two minutes into the contest. Springfield's Ryan Russell also scored in the first period.
It was 2-1 after one, but that's when AHL MVP Tyler Johnson took over, scoring a power play and short handed goal in the second period, and ended up notching the first hat trick in Syracuse Crunch playoff franchise history with another goal in the third period.
Syracuse now plays their next game at home on Wednesday against Springfield, with faceoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
