Syracuse Crunch drop Game 2 in Providence, head back home with series tied 1-1

The Syracuse Crunch and Providence Bruins battle for a loose puck during Sunday's contest from the Dunkin Donuts Center, resulting in a Bruins win and tied series.

The Syracuse Crunch had a monumental opportunity to put the Providence Bruins in an 0-2 series hole on Sunday.

But it did not happen.

The Bruins fought back, tying the series at 1-1, as it heads back to Syracuse for Games 3, 4 and 5.

For the second consecutive game of the AHL Eastern Conference Finals, the Crunch scored first. Ben Thomas scored on a wide open net from the wing to give Syracuse the early advantage.

However, that's where the scoring ended.

Providence responded with a goal from Jordan Szwarz, who camped out in front of goalie Mike McKenna, slapping in the game-tying goal.

Neither team scored in the third period, leading to an overtime session, and in overtime, Szwarz scored on a one-timer that went top shelf over McKenna.

The Bruins had taken Game 2, in overtime, 2-1.

Game 3 will take place Wednesday night at 7 p.m. from the War Memorial.
