Can you believe it Central New York?
By the time the next work week is over, it'll officially be Syracuse Football season.
The Orange, of course, kicks off with Villanova on August 29th, a Friday night game at the Carrier Dome.
Between now and then, the Orange is busy preparing for the Wildcats. A squad that Head Coach Scott Shafer called "a very good football team" led by an "excellent" head coach in Andy Talley.
With the game looming, and nearly three grueling weeks of training camps in the books, Shafer is already getting the team to focus on its first opponent.
"We've already started. We're starting to ramp up our practice schemes in a way that you know a lot of scout and demo work for two days in a row now" Shafer told me on Tuesday.
"Tomorrow (Wednesday) we're going to have a mock game and maybe not as many reps but some good passing reps and some good back and forth with all the situations that will come up in the course of a game or a season" Shafer went on to say.
That practice on Wednesday will be closed to all outside the program, and that will be the trend for every practice until that season opener, as the Orange locks in on its target.
