The Orange men's lacrosse team welcomed Hofstra and Le Moyne to the Carrier Dome this afternoon to kick off the 2014 season with a pair of exhibition games.
They started off their season strong earning two victories today. Facing Hofstra in their first, Syracuse started the game scoring 5 of their 12 goals in the first quarter. Two of those goals were scored by redshirt sophomore Dylan Donahue and assisted by junior Kevin Rice which gave SU a two-point lead late in the first quarter.
Later in the game, the duo continued to shine. Rice scored his first goal of the season in the second quarter and followed it up with another assist to Donahue near the end of the half. Rice ended the game against Hofstra with 1 goal and 4 assists while Donahue contributed 4 goals and 1 assist to Syracuse's 12-8 victory over the Pride.
The Orange continued to stay hot in their second game against Le Moyne, starting off with five goals that were scored by five different players. Before the half was over, Syracuse found the net five more times to give them a 10-3 lead at halftime. In the second half, Orange kept up the momentum ending the game with a second victory, 15-4.
Le Moyne fell to Hofstra in the first game of the day, 10-8.
February 1, the Orange will travel to Towson, Md. to play Towson and Bucknell in their last exhibition games before they welcome Siena to the Carrier Dome for their first official game of the season February 10.
