Syracuse Men's Lacrosse Team Falls to Visiting Villanova

The Syracuse men's lacrosse team snapped their 14 game conference win streak this afternoon, losing an 11-10 nailbiter to the Villanova Wildcats in the Carrier Dome. With the loss, the number 9 ranked 'Cuse fall to 4-3 on the season, and 2-1 in the Big East.

Seniors Kevin Drew and Tommy Palasek each scored two goals for the Orange in the loss, junior Jojo Marasco notched two goals and one assist as well. Marasco has at least one point in 15 straight games.

All 3,000 plus in attendance were treated to an excited see-saw battle, with the lead never going above two goals for either squad. SU actually held a two goal lead at 5-3 in the second period, but were unable to stretch that lead, as Villanova was with them every step of the way.

Two early second half Villanova goals tied the game at seven, and set the tone for the rest of regulation. Jack Rice led the way for the Wildcats, contributing for four points on the day with two goals and two assists. Teammate Kevin Cunningham tallied a game-high three assists. Villanova won nine of 11 second half face-offs, not allowing the Orange to control the ball for the majority of the second half.

The Orange faces Duke on Sunday, April 1 in the Konica Minolta Big City Classic at MetLife Stadium. Faceoff is scheduled for 4 o' clock.
