The Syracuse Basketball seniors led the way in a 103-60 blowout over Bloomsburg on Sunday at the Carrier Dome. Brandon Triche led all scorers with 23 points and seven assists, while James Southerland contributed 17 points as the Orange wrapped up their short preseason, en route to their season opener this Friday in San Diego.
"We had four, five minutes of tape on the first game," says Orange Head Coach Jim Boeheim, "We'll have four, five minutes on this. There's always things you can work on. I think that one thing we stressed is not turn it over and I think we were much better at not turning the ball over today."
SU will kick off the season on an aircraft carrier against San Diego State on Friday night in a game pegged as the "Battle on the Midway". The Orange are looking forward to travelling to California this upcoming week and being part of such a unique game against a team much more challenging then the ones they've faced in the exhibition season.
"We're really excited for that game," says sophomore Trevor Cooney, "San Diego State is a great team and we're looking forward to playing them. To play them out on a boat in San Diego-we're really looking forward to it."
"I'm excited ," says junior forward C.J. Fair, " Especially starting the season off playing against San Diego State, out there and on a boat-not too many people can experience that and that's something we're looking forward to."
"We're looking forward to it," says Boeheim, "We're excited. We're proud to be able to do it. I've been to the hospital. I was out there in the spring - went to the hospitals - saw some guys who were back from Afghanistan. I think it is a great event and we're proud to be a part of it and it will be a great game too."
