The Auburn Doubledays hit it out of the park, take down Aberdeen IronBirds

The Auburn DoubleDays exploded for 12 runs during Tuesday night's victory over the Aberdeen IronBirds.

It is halfway through the baseball season and you know what that means. It's the Mid-Summer Classic. however, there is still one team in Central New York that is still playing baseball during this week off for the MLB and the MLiB. The Auburn Doubledays which is the single A baseball team that is affiliated with the Washington Nationals and the Syracuse Chiefs started its three day series with the Aberdeen Iron Birds.

Within the first three innings, the Doubledays had already racked up seven runs. With a double - play in the second by Jake Scudder on first and then Paul Panaccione on second they wrap up the end of the inning by tagging out the remaining Iron Birds on base.

That is when Auburn went to work and never looked back. With multiple hits and double plays left and right, Auburn kept racking up the runs all night to win the first game of the series 12-5. Substantial contributions to the win tonight included Jake Scrudder and Oliver Ortiz with five runs a piece, and many of the other players scoring with four runs each.

First pitch for the rest of the series against the Iron Birds is at 7:05 p.m. at Falcon Park in Auburn.
