The Onondaga Senior All Stars have now had a couple days to soak in their Babe Ruth World Series Title
16 to 18 year old , but the celebration continues. The boys were crowned champions Saturday after a grueling 4-1 victory in the Texas heat over the local Texas Tri-City club, the first New York team to win the title since 1990.
"Not many people can say they are World Series Champions," says Onondaga player Alex Caruso, "
ts the greatest feeling in the world".
Baldwinsville native Scott Blewett helped to lead Onondaga by pitching a complete game, and striking out 15 Tri-City batters. Blewitt's Baldwinsville teammate Chris Davis added a two run homer in the sixth inning to seal the 4-1 victory.
"It's pretty exciting," says Davis, "We're very proud to come home with that accomplishment".
Brett Charbonneau's was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, hitting .571 for the tourney. He was also named to all defensive team along with teammate Ciro Frontale.
Ryan O'Kane noted that this core group of guys has been together for four years adding, "We came in with a lot of experience together and we knew what to do to win".
This collection of highly talented ball players, can not only claim they are the best in Central New York, but now, the best in the nation.
