Fans of Syracuse University sports teams have a new place to do their grocery shopping. Tops Markets unveiled its newly renovated Nottingham Road location on the SU hill Tuesday.

The $2.5 million renovation is part of the company's capital improvement plan. "We are proud to be a part of the Central New York community and are committed to providing our customers with an exceptional shopping experience," says Frank Curci, President & CEO of Tops Markets. "We also understand the important role Syracuse University plays within the greater Syracuse area."

The theme of this particular location is SU sports, and the store is decorated with everything Orange - including a basketball court in the frozen foods section.

Head football coach Doug Marrone was among those to welcome the new store to the neighborhood. "I just watch what's been done by Tops," he says. "I'm trying to think: maybe we should bring them in here to build a football program. They have done such a great job."

There is also a Syracuse athletics-themed "Cuse Cafe." It's complete with free WiFi and mementos of past and present Syracuse greats.

The 43,762 square foot store originally opened as a Peter's Groceries and was purchased by the Penn Traffic Company in 2004 when it reopened as P&C Foods.
