Turning Stone, International Boxing Hall of Fame team up to create ultimate experience
It's a win-win for all of Central New York.
Turning Stone Resort-Casino and the International Boxing Hall of Fame agreed to a partnership for years to come.
"Today, we're pleased to announce the historic partnership between the Oneida Nation and the International Boxing Hall of Fame, that will solidify Central New York as the Boxing Capital of the World," Ray Halbritter announced during Monday's press conference from inside the event center at the resort.
And with that, Central New York's premier resort and casino will exclusively team up with the area's hidden gem, all for the common goal of giving boxing fans the very best experience possible.
"We're very excited that the Friday night event will be the professional boxing show here, during the Hall of Fame weekend," International Boxing Hall of Fame Executive Director, Ed Brophy said. "On Saturday night, the banquet of champions will be here."
Turning Stone will also host a series of nationally televised bouts, beginning this weekend, and concluding Hall of Fame weekend in June.
"Boxing is an exciting sport and it's an exciting time right now for boxing," Brophy explained. "There are a lot of great fighters right now -- exciting fighters. There are a lot of television telecasts. Turning Stone is one of the ones that's putting on these telecasts. So, boxing is becoming even more popular. It's good for everybody. It's good for the Boxing Hall of Fame, it's good for the fans and this partnership really provides us another element to make boxing a great sport that it is."
This agreement will undoubtedly ensure that Central New York remains the Boxing Capital of the World.
