Syracuse basketball senior Brandon Triche threw out the first pitch at the Syracuse Chiefs home opener on Saturday afternoon.
Triche laughed as he toed the rubber, and threw the ball hard, but it did land in front of home plate. He said beforehand he was hoping to throw a strike, but still smiled as he walked off the mound. While his figure is imposing enough to look like a running back or linebacker on the football field, Triche says baseball was his other love growing up.
"Baseball was one of my two sports, it wasn't basketball and football, it was basketball and baseball actually. I was a pitcher, a catcher, I was pretty much everything," Triche says.
A Jamesville native, Triche also spoke about going to Chiefs games as a child.
"I came to a few, especially growing up," he says. "I love to watch it more in-game, than on TV, so I came to quite a few when I was young."
