The Chiefs continued to make a late season push, trying to gain ground in the playoff race with a 3-2 comeback win over the Indianapolis Indians.
For most of the night, it was a pitchers duel between the Chiefsâ?? Caleb Clay and the Indianâ??s Stolmy Pimentel.
However, Clay would give up a couple of runs off singles in the fourth and fifth innings, giving the Indians a 2-0 lead.
The Chiefs would go to work late in the game. In the bottom of the eighth, Danny Espinosa looped a double into left field, scoring Eury Perez, advancing Jeff Kobernus to third, and cutting the Indians lead to one. After Kyle Farnsworth intentionally walked Corey Brown to load the bases, Vic Black would enter the game and walk Chris Marrero to even the game at two.
Then, in the bottom of the ninth, Zach Walters would go deep in the count against Black and finally belt a deep solo homerun into the Family Park behind the right field wall, giving the Chiefs the come from behind 3-2 victory.
The home run would be Walterâ??s league leading 29th round tripper. Michael Crotta picked up the win for the Chiefs, improving his record to 6-7. Vic Black picks up his fourth blown save and his third loss for the Indians.
The Chiefs continue their home stand tomorrow at 7pm when the Chicago White Sox Triple A farm team Charlotte Knights come into NBT Bank Stadium.
