Watch: 'Hidden ball trick' wins it in overtime for RIT over SUNY Cortland

RIT celebrates advancing to the D3 National Title

RIT used a hidden ball trick in overtime to defeat the Cortland Red Dragons 10-9 and advance to the NCAA Division III Championship on Saturday in Cortland.

Down 7-2 in the third quarter, the Red Dragons did not give up, going on a 6-1 run to tie the score at eight with less than eight minutes to play in the fourth quarter. The teams then once again tied at nine, forcing an overtime period. Cortland had two chances in the overtime period, but could not convert.

RIT then took possession. Taylor Wisman took the ball, flipped it to teammate Allister Warren, but carried on like he still was cradling the ball. That distracted not only the defense, but Cortland goaltender Mike Kaminski as well. Closely watching Wisman, Kaminski did not see Warren's shot fly behind him to the net, ending Cortland's perfect season.

Cortland finishes at 19-1 on the season.
