The Syracuse Crunch held its annual street hockey game for local media, our own Wayne Mahar, Niko Tamurian, and Brian Mueller played in the game. It was a barnburner of a game, when the Orange Team that Brian Mueller played on took a 2-0 lead on the Black Team that Wayne and Niko played on. Wayne though, wouldn't give up another goal and after Crunch P.R. Manager John Neenan scored the equalizer goal, the game went to a shootout. In the shootout, Wayne stopped all 9 shots he faced while his team scored one goal at the other end and that was enough to seal the victory.
It was all a part of the Crunch Summer Street Series for kids, that runs every summer. The game was played outside Alliance Bank Stadium
