It's been an exciting year for sports in Central New York. Several Section 3 teams and athletes advanced far into their state tournaments. The OCC men's lacrosse team won their 5th NJCAA title in a row and the Le Moyne men's lacrosse team won the Division 2 National Title.
Teams that fell short still had some great seasons though...
The Syracuse Crunch won the East division, having one of the most successful seasons in franchise history, but lost in Game 6 of the Calder Cup Finals.
The SU men's basketball team made an improbable run all the way to the Final Four, eventually losing to Michigan.
The SU men's lacrosse team went one game farther, falling in the national title game to Duke by the score of 16-10.
As for some of the other teams, the SU football team accepted their invitiation to the Texas Bowl, the squad's 3rd bowl game in 4 years and the Chiefs are also looking to rebuild after hiring a new general manager in Jason Smorol.
