Baldwinsville softball, West Genesee baseball get wins on chilly afternoon

Even with cool temperatures and rains the last few days, some baseball and softball games still went on throughout Section 3.

At West Genesee, the Wildcats hosted the Oswego Lakers. West Genny got on the board early with two runs in the first two innings. But, trailing 2-0, Oswego got the bats going in the 3rd, as a Trevor Bradshaw Texas Leaguer fell behind the shortstop, scoring Colin Clark.

The Wildcats would answer in the bottom of the inning scoring three runs. Evan Reichel pounded a double to left in the inning, scoring Colin Bevard. West Genesee ended the third with a 5-2 lead. The Wildcats went on to win 10-3.

In softball, Baldwinsville hosted Fayetteville-Manlius and got the scoring started right off the bat (pun intended). After shutting down the Hornets in the top of the 1st, Bella May hit a deep drive to right field, and the ball rolled all the way to the wall. May looked ripe for the triple, but was waved home coming around third and scored. The inside the park home run put the Bees up one nothing. Kyra Hunsinger would come up later in the inning and hit a double of her own, getting an RBI as well. They'd score four runs in the inning, going on to win 8-3.
