Bishop Ludden Girls Basketball hands Westhill first loss this season

Danielle Rauch from Bishop Ludden drives in for two of her 20 points

The schools' home courts are separated by less than a mile, now their records on the season are just as close.

Bishop Ludden handed the Westhill Girls Basketball team their first loss of the season 59-52 at Bishop Ludden on Monday night.

Ludden improves to 8-1 while Westhill falls to 5-1.

Bishop Ludden was paced by Nicole Granteed, she scored 22 points in the big win. The Gaelic Knights' best kept secret though quickly made a name for herself, too.

Danielle Rauch, an 8th grader who starts at point guard for the Knights scored 20 points to go along with 7 steals and 5 assists. Clearly, the one-two punch of Rauch and Granteed was too much for the Warriors tonight.

Westhill's top scorers were Sam Peebles and Anna Ross, who scored 18 and 17 points respectively. Fast break buckets by both Peebles and Ross turned a double-digit first half deficit into just a 7 point game at halftime.

From there, though, Bishop Ludden continued to make its statement and went on to win by 7.
