Bishop Ludden's Danielle Rauch commits to Michigan

Bishop Ludden's Danielle Rauch celebrates Sunday's victory over South Jefferson after converting on the game-winning free throw.

One of the best basketball players in Central New York is off to the Big 10.

Bishop Ludden's Danielle Rauch announced her commitment to the University of Michigan on Thursday night.

Rauch had a plethora of major colleges interested in her services but after a visit to Ann Arbor, the allure of the program earned her pledge.

There is a bit of a connection, the mens program at Michigan is led by John Beilein who coached Danielle's father Len at Le Moyne in the late 1980's

Len was the Dolphins' all time leading scorer and rebounder for 20 years after his graduation.

As for Danielle, she's already Bishop Ludden's leading scorer....and she has an entire season left to play.

Rauch is a lightning quick guard with a fantastic basketball IQ. For years, she's dominated the competition in Section III and it's been easy to see how her game will translate at the next level.
