There was a full slate of games in both boys and girls lacrosse sectional playoffs on Tuesday night.
I n Class A boys action, 3-seed Baldwinsville got on the board quickly against 6-seed C-NS, scoring three goals within the first five minutes of play. It was a deficit the North Stars could never recover from, as the Bees finished C-NS' season winning 16-8. Steve Petrelli scored five goals and had one assist in the win.
In the other half of that Class A bracket, 2-seed West Genesee held off a fiesty Liverpool squad, winning 14-8. West Genesee and Baldwinsville will battle in the Class A semifinals on May 22 at C-NS.
So, the current Class A semifinal picture looks like this:
5:00 p.m. (3) Baldwinsville vs. (2) West Genesee
7:00 p.m. (5) Corcoran vs. (1) F-M
In Class C, the top seed Cazenovia rolled to victory 14-4 over Tully. But Caz's rival Skaneateles wasn't so lucky. The Lakers bow out of the playoffs unexpectedly after a loss to General Brown.
There was another classic contest in Class C, as the 6 seed Lafayette traveled to CBA and beat the Brothers 16-15 in overtime.
The Lancers were paced by Matthew's Bennett's 6 goals which helped to turn a 5-goal CBA lead in to the 1-goal Lafayette win.
In Class B girls action, J-D and ESM played for the right to go up against CBA in the semifinals. ESM started hot, taking a 5-3 lead into the locker room. But, the Red Rams would score seven second half goals en route to a 12-10 victory. J-D will play the Brothers in Class B semifinal on Friday at 5:00 p.m. at Chittenango.
Class C girls squads 4-seed Lafayette hosted 5-seed Westhill and got on the Warriors early with a few goals, going on to win 12-7. Lafayette will face top-seed Skaneateles in the Class C semifinals.
