High school football fans will experience some "deja-vu" at the Carrier Dome this Saturday, as the Section III Class AA title game has a very familiar feel. The CBA Brothers will play in the championship game for a record forth straight year, and they'll be taking on Baldwinsville for the third time in four seasons.
"There is a lot of consistency in both programs, " says CBA head coach Joe Casmento, jokingly adding " and that is a sign the assistant coaches are doing their jobs".
"Its a tremendous rivalry we've had ," says Baldwinsville head coach Carl Sanfillipo, "w e've played twice out of the last three years we have been here. I think its going to be a barn burner. Its two great football teams, they are well coached and have great athleticism. I think its going to be a great game".
The Brothers lost to the Bees in the 2009 and 2010 title games, and then once again to the West Genesee Wildcats last season. While CBA is extra hungry to finally complete the task of winning the Section III crown this time around, they know they have another tough tast ahead of them.
"Tyler Rouse is a great running back, but there is more to it than Tyler Rouse ," says Casmento, "t hey have great schemes. The coach does an awesome job with that offensive line, there is some size and talent with that offensive line. I like the quarterback, I think he does an great job of keeping you honest, so you can't just be focused on Tyler".
"We've spent 30 hours over the last 2 days breaking down film ," admits Sanfillipo, "t hey are extremely athletic, they are extremely athletic, they can adapt and they can overcome. We saw the film when they were without their quarterback and now he's back, and they didn't really skip a beat. They are a good football team and they are well coached".
CBA and Baldwinsville will kick off at the Carrier Dome this Saturday at 3 PM.
