Cazenovia, Fayetteville-Manlius, and Jamesville-Dewitt all punch ticket to state title game

Call it destiny, call it dominance, whatever the case our local Section III boys lacrosse teams are all headed to the New York State Championship game.

Those games start at 11:00 a.m. on the campus of Hofstra University on Long Island. And there will be a great representation of Central New York there.

Fayetteville-Manlius erased an early 3-goal deficit and rallied to win in overtime over Fairport from Section V for a 10-9 victory.

Talk about heroics, Jack Wilson scored the game tying goal to force overtime and he found the net for the game winning tally in overtime. All in all, Wilson scored 6 goals and dished out an assist too.

F-M now matches up with Massapequa with the Class A New York State Championship on the line Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

In Class B, it was another rally with Jamesville-Dewitt actually trailing its opponent, Victor, 10-5 at halftime.

The Red Rams though came back to tie the game at 11 by the end of the 3rd quarter and never looked back, en route to a wild 17-13 victory.

The nightcap featured Cazenovia, and just like the earlier two games, The Lakers had to rally from a deficit to beat its Section V opponent Penn Yan 8-6.

With the win, Cazenovia continues its quest for back-to-back state titles and plays in the championship game for the 2nd time in 3 years.

The Lakers meet Bronxville for the title Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
