The Cazenovia Lakers fought off a solid Central Valley Academy squad on Saturday, scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter en route to a 49-20 victory. Cazenovia improves to 2-0, while Central Valley Academy falls to 1-1 this season.
The Lakers jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after Kevin Hopsicker hit Alex Devine with a 27-yard touchdown pass. Central Valley Academy didn't pass once in the entire first half, but Tyler Brown still scored on an 80 yard run to answer the Laker touchdown, making the score 7-6 after a missed extra point.
The teams when back and forth for the rest of the first half, as the Lakers went into the half with just a 21-14 lead. The Lakers scored three times in a row in the second half though, which put them out of reach, going on to win 49-20.
Central Valley Academy will try to bounce back on Friday as they host Camden, while Cazenovia will visit the high-scoring Marcellus Mustangs on Thursday night.
