At 17 years old Jordan Sheridan has already raised over $15,000 for the Samaritan Center of Central New York.
Sheridan, a senior-to-be at Christian Brothers Academy is a star pitcher for the softball team there and for the past two seasons has taken pledges for every strikeout she records in the spring.
In 2011, the first year she took on this charitable challenge, she raised over $3,700 which of course is a huge help to the Samaritan Center.
In 2012, however, Sheridan struck out 197 batters and presented $11,449.35 to the Samaritan Center on Tuesday. An increase in strikeouts and a plethora of new donors helped Sheridan more than triple her 2011 donation. The Samaritan Center helps feed the homeless and needy in Central New York.
Mary Beth Frey, the Director of the Samaritan Center says that the amount of money Jordan presented today is enough to fill all of their breakfast needs for the next four months. "Jordan Sheridan is feeding Central New York for four months" she proudly proclaimed.
Sheridan, as mentioned, will be a senior in 2013 and looks forward to raising even more money for the center, which is a cause near and dear to her heart.
