Section III boys lacrosse is moving on to the Final Four.
F-M, Jamesville-Dewitt, and Cazenovia all beat the opponents from Section IV in the Southern Tier, and in the process punched tickets to the New York State Final Four at Cicero-North Syracuse's Bragman Stadium on Wednesday.
Fayetteville-Manlius raced to a 6-2 halftime lead over perennial power Corning, and held on for the win. Surprisingly, the Hornets didn't score again the rest of the game but it didn't matter. Their defense was so stifling that Corning only scored twice and F-M won 6-4.
J-D and Cazenovia on the other hand had little trouble with their opponents.
The Red Rams beat Vestal 22-11, which means J-D has now scored 45 goals in its last two games, a staggering amount.
Cazenovia scored less than 10 seconds into its game with Chenango Forks and never looked back. Forks kept it respectable in the first half, with Caz leading by just four. But the Lakers showed why they're ranked #1 in New York State with a 16-4 victory.
The best news? It's essentially another home game for our local squads next Wednesday. Section III will host winners from Section V and VI (Rochester and Buffalo, generally speaking) on June 4th at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.
