Year and year out Westhill baseball is among the top programs in New York State, in fact they won the state title in 2009 and 2010 and hopes for a championship this year could rest on the left arm of Alex Godzak.
The senior southpaw for the Warriors no doubt, is Bob Weismore's ace and evidence of that, just a couple weeks ago he pitched a no hitter. The Warriors have just two blemishes on its record this season and have been the #1 team in the state for long stretches this season.
No doubt, Godzak is lighting up the stat-sheet with an ERA of 0.34 in over 41 innings pitched! Another impressive stat, he's actually struck out 65 batters in those 41.1 innings pitched.
More important than his statistical prowess though, is how impressive of an individual Godzak is. Coach Weismore raves about his ability to lead this team and keep them loose in tough situations. That ability is something that will be key for the Warriors as they compete for the program's 3rd state title in 4 years.
