This weekâ??s Athlete of the Week is scoring big and often for the Cortland Purple Tigers Varsity Soccer Team.
Junior, Justice Prentice, had a total of ten goals and four assists in September against opponents Jamesville-Dewitt, Homer, Cazenovia, and Bishop Ludden. But since then he has increased that number and is leading the league with 21 goals.
Prentice said he wouldnâ??t be able to achieve those outstanding results without the help of his teammates and consistent dedication.
â??We have to put in a lot of hard work in practice,â?? said Prentice. â??If you really practice well you can go into an undecided game and win.â??
His dedication to practice paired with his passion for the sport both contribute to his success this season.
â??I play for the love of the game,â?? he said. â??I just love to play soccer; Iâ??ve been playing all my life since I was five or six.â??
Off the field, Prentice focuses on school and works at Price Chopper. The Cortland Purple Tigers will travel to Jamesville-DeWitt this Saturday
