The first CNY Central Athlete of the 2012-2013 school year is hoping to help the LaFayette-Fabius Pompey Football team to a new high this season.
David Poole is a senior linebacker at LaFayette this season and while the Lancers have improved each and every season since the football merger with Fabius-Pompey the senior leader is hoping to help lead the team to a sectional playoff win this year.
And why not look to Poole for leadership? He's been with the LaFayette program since he was in 7th grade and is someone who "leads by example" according to Head Coach Karl Seemann
"He's a hard worker for us on the football field, he's a great leader for this team, he sets a good example for his teammates showing them hard work and encouraging them" says Seemann.
"It starts with the small things, like getting to practice on time" says Poole of how he tries to set that good example for the younger Lancer players. "Cleaning up the locker room, running sprints hard, it's really all about the little things" adds Poole.
The Lancers may have lost the first game of 2012 but they hope to rebound on Saturday at noon against Homer.
Regardless of the team's final record or if they make that goal Poole mentioned, it's safe to say LaFayette/F-P will be giving its all this season, with David Poole leading the way.
Congratulations to David Poole, this week's CNY Central Athlete.
