The Syracuse University mens soccer team enjoyed the best season in school history in 2012, and the road ahead could be much brighter.
That's because the Orange is once again dipping into the local talent pool by signing Michael Koegel of Chittenango. Koegel follows local stars Stefanos Stamoulacatos, Ben Ramin, and Alex Bono to be the fourth local product to sign in the last two years.
Koegel is unique though, not only is he obviously a standout on the soccer field, but he's also prolific in the classroom. Evidence of that, he's graduating early and will be in class next week on the SU hill.
No doubt, on the heels of Syracuse's Sweet 16 appearance last season, Koegel is ready to help lead the Orange to new heights.
"They had an excellent year last year, and the future is bright" said Koegel.
Safe to say, you'll be seeing the name Michael Koegel in the future, either as a leader of the Orange as it heads into the ACC or academically speaking where he is absolutely setting a great example for others in Central New York
Congratulations to Michael Koegel, this week's CNY Central Athlete.
