Jordan Sheridan accomplished something that is absolutely incredible. Jordan is 14 years old and a freshman on the Christian Brothers Academy softball team, and pitched a perfect game Monday night against Mexico High School. You read that correctly " a PERFECT game!
As if that wasn TMt amazing enough, Jordan struck out a whopping 19 batters. A perfect game at the high school level means she faced 21 batters, so all but two went down on strikes. The other two batters grounded out to second base in very routine fashion. She took care of business on just 86 pitches, 61 of which were strikes.
While the perfect game shocked everyone, excellence is something the team has come to expect from Jordan. She has pitched five shutouts this season, with 92 total strikeouts with a 0.48 ERA. Jordan has also only given up 29 hits in 58 innings of work, with only four earned runs allowed on the season. She TMs also a force at the plate with a .393 batting average and five RBIs.
If you ask Coach Greg Jewett though about what makes Jordan special and he TMll tell you that she TMs one of the nicest kids you TMll ever meet. You can see her ever-present smile that never seems to waver. She played on varsity last year, as an eighth grader, but the team, and the upper classmen took her in with open arms and it has certainly helped Sheridan accomplish what she has, and helped CBA to a 7-1 start.
Perhaps the most exciting thing about all this is that Jordan still has three 3.5 years left on the varsity team, there TMs no telling what else she TMll accomplish at CBA and how bright her future is.
Congratulations to Jordan Sheridan, this week TMs Dunkin TM Donuts CNY Central Athlete!
