Christian Brothers Academy junior Marisa Romeo is a standout on and off the field for the defending New York State Girls Lacrosse Champions.
Not only has Marisa stormed out of the gates this season with 14 points, she also, as a junior has already accepted a scholarship offer to prestigious Harvard University.
A tremendous accomplishment, but one that isn't surprising for those who follow Central New York high school sports. Romeo is a three-sport star (soccer, basketball, lacrosse) and absolutely excels in all three and somehow finds the time to balance the books and of course earn grades to be admitted into Harvard.
Marisa's effort has helped lead CBA to a strong 2-1 start this season, the only loss was by one goal to the defending Class A Section III champion West Genesee. The Brothers, of course are the reigning Class C New York State Champions, and rest assured Marisa would like to help add another couple trophies to the case at Randall Road before she heads to Harvard. Even if that doesn't end up being the case, Marisa has already made her mark. Not just at CBA but for all high school athletes in our area, showing us all the true definition of a student-athlete.
Congratulations to Marisa Romeo, this week's CNY Central Athlete.
