CNY Central Hoops team battles ES-M Teachers

The CNY Central Hoops team battled the ES-M Teachers in a charity game on Saturday night.

Proceeds benefitted Helping Hounds Dog Rescue and ES-M's 3-Steps Forward Program.

The game itself was very exciting, CNY Central raced to an early double-digit lead. ES-M quickly closed the gap, only trailing CNY Central 26-22 at the halftime break.

It was a seven point game at the end of the 3rd quarter, until the Spartans rallied and briefly took a three point lead. Two timely baskets by CNY Central reporter Chris McGrath (who led all scorers with 18 points) but CNY Central back on top by one.

ES-M was able to tie it on a free throw, they rebounded the miss of the second free throw and took a two point lead with 9 seconds to play at 56-54.

CNY Central drove the ball down the court, and McGrath found Niko Tamurian (11 points) who converted a floater shot in the lane with two seconds to play to tie up the game. The game ended in a 56-56 tie after the teams agreed to the even finish.

The CNY Central team also featured Meteorologist Peter Hall, Resources Content Manager Jeremy Ryan, Producer Dan Scharfenberger, Niko Tamurian and his brother Peter Tamurian, Chris McGrath,and ES-M teacher Michael Ferris who switched teams two minutes into the contest. Alex Dunbar and Caitlin Nuclo also joined the team.
