CNY Central's Niko Tamurian reports the weather at ES-M High School

I returned to my alma mater, East Syracuse-Minoa High School Tuesday morning, in an effort to promote a charity basketball game that ES-M is teaming up with CNY Central on. The game this Saturday at ES-M High School at 7 p.m. and is benefitting Helping Hounds Dog Rescue.

The game is just $2 to attend, and upon paying that 2-dollar admission you'll be given a drawing ticket to win a chance to experience a day in the life at CNY Central. So come out and enjoy the game.

In addition to promoting that game though, i was given a bit of a surprise on my arrival.

I was told I'd be doing the weather forecast for "WESM 15" news that morning. Just to give a little background, during my senior year at the high school (2002-2003) I did the weather forecasts often for ES-M's morning newscast, and found them to be fun.

It was great though, to see all of the students working to put together a sharp looking broadcast. The students truly pool their knowledge, and teamwork to create a broadcast that looks nothing like a typical high school broadcast. TV teachers Mike Ferris and John Nichols oversee the efforts, and the end product, as you'll see in the video is impressive and bodes well for the future of all the students in the program.

So watch the video, and see why I decided to do sportscasting for a living, instead of the weather.
