CNY teams go 1-1 in Summer Hoops Festival in Johnson City
Sat, 03 Aug 2013 02:53:14 GMT — On the opening day of the 3rd annual Summer Hoops Festival held in Johnson City, the Central Boys took home a 77-44 win over the Southern Tier Boys while the Central Girls lost to the Southern Tier Girls, 49-77. Each team from every section of New York state will play 4-5 games, competing against each other until August 4th. On the boys team, athletes like Zach Walser (Bishop Ludden), Jordan Roland (Westhill) and Romero Collier (Henninger) are among the pool of the Section III athletes on the Central team. On the girls side, McKayla Roberts (C-NS) and Necedah James (Nottingham) are helping lead the Central squad. The Championships take place on Sunday, August 4th. In addition to the games, the festivities also include: a slam dunk contest, a parent and player education program on college recruiting, and a clinic for participating players from college coaches.
