National Signing Day was on Wednesday and this week's CNYCentral Athlete was one of the elite Central New York athletes signing in the dotted line. Baldwinsville football standout Tyler Rouse announced that he will be taking his talents to Boston College. This is a dream come true for Rouse. The New York Gatorade National Player of the Year ran for more than 2,900 yards and 45 touchdowns last season for the Baldwinsville Bees as he helped lead them to a 6-1 record and a trip to the Sectional Championship.
Rouse credits much of his success to his coach Carl Sanfilippo, "Its morals he teaches me more off the field than on the field," stated Rouse.
The football phenom will be playing for the future ACC foe of Syracuse University. Rouse and the Eagles will take on nationally recognized schools such as Miami and Virginia Tech.
This transition to college should be no problem for the speedy running back because of all the skills that he has been taught from high school. Rouse will be looking to boost the Eagles backfield with his tremendous skill set.
"You have to discipline yourself and he's gonna be a low maintenance kid," said Sanfilippo, "he's gonna take care of himself and that's a plus for any coaching staff, even at the high school level."
Rouse might be on the gridiron sooner than most freshmen as the Boston College coaching staff is hoping for Rouse to be on the field right away. Many freshman redshirt in their first year, but not Rouse as he will be expected to produce for the Eagles next season.
Many fans will be interested to see if this playmaker can light up the ACC like he did here in Baldwinsville.
Rouse earns this week's CNY Central Athlete for all of his accomplishments throughout his high school career.
