This week's CNYCentral Athletes are "the Senior Six" from the Jamesville-Dewitt Soccer Team. Tessa Devereaux, Olivia Ferlenda, Emily Embers, Stephanie Mannion, Abbey Smith and Maire Prosak have all led their team to an undefeated season so far, and will now take on Whitesboro on Friday in the Section III Title Game. While Devereaux was a featured CNYCentral Athlete last season, and is still the teams leading scorer, everyone agrees that each and every one of "the Senior Six" have played an important role in getting the Red Rams where they are today.
"We're very competitive in practice and in games," says Devereaux, "but at the same time we like to have fun. We played some pranks on our coach this year, and in practices we always like to tie in fun things."
"We're all really motivated, we want to win States really bad," admits Stephanie Mannion,0 "we've lost in Regionals two years in a row now, so everyone is working really hard to win States."
Prosak wants to accomplish that with her teammates so badly that she'll be back in her first game on Friday since breaking both arms in a game back in September. She says that has been her goal ever since she left the hospital.
"I'm definiteley going to be cautious but I really want to get out and play," says prosak, "we're really close and we've been playing together for a long time."
The Red Rams' seniors excel off the field as well, as all six of them are also on the honor roll.
Congratulations to the J-D Red Rams, and good luck the rest of the way!! Click on the video tab to watch the full story.
