ES-M punches ticket to title game in Toyota High School Game of the Week

It's been a dream season for the East Syracuse Minoa Spartans (9-0), and the dream will continue for at least another week.

The Spartans made short work of dangerous Indian River, en route to a 52-29 victory. A game in which the Spartans never trailed and led 52-7 at one point in the fourth quarter.

With the win ES-M earns a berth in the Class A Section III Championship for the first time since 2006.

Tyler Johnson threw three touchdown passes and fellow senior Jordan Barton scored three touchdowns as well (2 rushing, 1 fumble return)

Now the Spartans face off with perennial power Whitesboro, who is also perfect on the season. That game is for the Section III Championship next Friday in the Carrier Dome.

The Class AA semifinals are Saturday with (2) CBA taking on (3) F-M at 4 p.m. at Liverpool High School and (5) Utica Proctor battling (1) West Genesee at 7 p.m. in Liverpool.

In Class B, half of the championship game is set with (2) Chittenango topping Camden 42-14. The Bears now await the winner of Saturday's game with Cazenovia and Oneida battling at noon.

Class C's final four will be played out on Saturday, with the much hyped Skaneateles game with Utica Notre Dame being played at 3 p.m. at Chittenango. The winner of that contest would move onto the Section III Championship at the Carrier Dome against the winner of Tully and Herkimer, who play at 6 p.m. Saturday in Chittenango.

In Class D, the stage is set, as it will be a Mohawk Valley battle between Dolgeville, who topped Weedsport Friday and Westmoreland, who took out Onondaga on Friday as well.
