It was a mix of rain and snow and the temperature was in the upper 30's.
Sounds just about right for playoff time in the Fall sports season.
That was the case on Wednesday night as our local soccer teams took to the field looking to make the semifinals.
We'll start in Manlius, where the F-M boys soccer team took out Utica-Proctor 4-1 at the Manlius Swan Pond. Chris Wang was sensational, scoring a hat trick en route to the victory.
The Hornets now advance to the Section III semifinals, where they join Liverpool for the right to advance to the title game. F-M awaits the winner of C-NS vs. Henninger while Liverpool will play either West Genesee or Baldwinsville in the semifinals.
Girls soccer matchups were just as exciting on Wednesday night.
CBA and Rome Free Academy battled to overtime.
Go figure, after 80, yes 80 scoreless minutes of soccer the two squads exploded with 4 goals in a 20 minute overtime period. CBA scored three of them to beat RFA 3-1.
With the win, CBA now meets Baldwinsville in the semifinals next Tuesday, October 29th. The Bees topped Auburn Wednesday 3-0.
