Fab Four back for more for Christian Brothers Academy swimming

The Christian Brothers Academy swimming team has plenty of motivation to work off this season, and the four seniors who helped create that inspiration are looking for more. "The Fab Four" of CBA won the State Championship last year in the medley relay, and Maggie Fletcher, Lexy McCauley, Summer Schmitt and Kathryn Coughlin are looking for the repeat this season.

"I think it motivates us a lot," admits Schmitt, "because we have a lot to live up to. We did so great last season that we want to repeat that success."

"I think all four of these girls are a huge inspiration to the section as well as this team," says their proud head coach Ashley Demaio, "being State Champions in the medley relay definitely set the tone for this year, and they're an inspiration to all of their teammates as well."

The four say that winning the State Title not only inspires them to push it even further this year, maybe even beat their time from last year, but it has also brought them closer as friends, creating a bond that will last a lifetime.

"When you win a state championship with your team, theres no better bond than that, says Coughlin, "teammates are friends, but they're sisters too. Just being able to win for the other girls was amazing."

"I just love this year already," adds McCauley, "just swimming with all the girls, but it would just make me so happy if our whole team made it to sectionals and if we did great at sections and made it to states, if we came first and got the record, but even if that doesn't happen i'm happy with what comes out of it."

And besides their friendship, that might mean that the rest of the CBA swimming team will be inspired to pull something special off this year themselves, and for years to come.

"We need to stay positive and also stay humble.." explains Fletcher, "it's a team sport we're all in it together."
