Fight to the finish- J-D beats Bishop Grimes in overtime to advance to Class A title game

Buddy Boeheim lines up for what would be the game tying three pointer in overtime of J-D's playoff win over Bishop Grimes

It was arguably the best high school basketball game of the season, given what was at stake.

Bishop Grimes and Jamesville-DeWitt battled to overtime in the Class A Semifinal Friday at the SRC Arena.

In the end, it was a shame one of the teams had to see their season end.

J-D watched as its double-digit lead evaporated, only to rally from down three to win the game in overtime.

Buddy Boeheim scored 31 points, eight in overtime, including two dagger three pointers in the extra session that tied the game and gave J-D the lead for good.

Ronald Lewis chipped in with 17 for the Red Rams, Sean Gashi was impressive with 27 for the Cobras.

Gashi absolutely played his heart out, he nailed a free throw to tie it and blocked Lewis' attempt to win the game at the buzzer for J-D to force overtime.

With the win, the Red Rams will now meet Syracuse Academy of Science for the Class A Championship.

That game is set for 4:30, March 5 at the SRC Arena.

"We're just a tough team and we want to win no matter what" said Boeheim after the win.

"They're a really tough team (Bishop Grimes) they trapped us, they were physical. The refs did a great job of letting us play and we just had to fight back and keep playing and that's what we did" he adds.

"I'm speechless" said Ronald Lewis.

"We just tried to go out there and get another win and save our season" Lewis adds.
