High School lacrosse playoffs roll on despite more weather delays

The severe weather in Central New York has wreaked havoc on the Section III playoffs.

But when our local teams have had the opportunity to play, they've made the most of it.

Ecidence of that, CBA and LaFayette battled to the finish on Wednesday night, with the Lancers prevailing 14-11.

LaFayette led at one point 10-2 in the 3rd quarter, but CBA stormed back outscoring the Lancers 7-2 in the final quarter but obviously the rally wasn't enough.

Matthew Bennett and Eric Liddy both notched four goals for LaFayette and Bennett also tallied 3 assists. Brian Phillips and Nate Beresevoy each recorded hat tricks for the Lancers. J.R. Zazzara scored three for CBA.

LaFayette advances to take on Cazenovia for the Class C Championship on Saturday. The Lakers took care of business over Westhill 10-6 on Wednesday. Connor Cannizzaro went wild with 6 goals for Caz in the victory.

In Class B, the scene is less settled. We know that Carthage is in the championship game after defeating Auburn but the Comets don't know their opponent just yet. That's because top-seeded Jamesville-Dewitt's game with Watertown was postponed because of lightning.

We also have to wait until Friday before we know who is in the Class A title game. On Friday night at C-NS, Liverpool meets top-seeded Fayetteville-Manlius while West Genesee battles Baldwinsville.
