      High School Preview: West Genesee

The West Genesee Wildcats are ready to climb the mountain again. We all remember their magical State Championship in 2007, shocking everyone in Central New York, except those in Camillus. 2008 was another great year, the 'Cats made it to the Section III Championship before falling to Henninger. Last year though, they hit rough ground, missing the playoffs as part of a 1-7 season. This year, West Genny is determined to make sure everyone knows that 2009 was just a hiccup, and they'll be back in 2010.

The road won't be easy though, with Genny opening up the season hosting the defending Section III Champs from B'ville. Kickoff for that game is 6 p.m. on Friday, but the Wildcats don't see it as a daunting task, they see it as an opportunity. "You couldn't ask for a better opening game, it's a non-league game and B'ville is a great team. They have a lot of returners, they have size, they have speed, they have a great quarterback and a great o-line. They're very well coached and it's going to be a great test for us. If we can play with B'ville, we can play with anybody" says Head Coach Joe Corley.

Here's a look at the Wildcats' schedule:
